Scientists study VigRX ingredient as better alternative to Viagra
Horny Goat Weed, the primary ingredient in the penis enhancement pill, VigRX, has been studied as better than Viagra for treating impotence. Mario Dell-Agli, a research scientist from Milan University’s department of pharmacological sciences has been studying Epimedium leaf extract (Epimedium sagittatum) the herb commonly known as “Horny Goat Weed” because it has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years for its effects as an aphrodesiac. It is expected that a study scheduled for publication in the American Chemical Society’s Journal of Natural Products on October 24, 2008 will announce that Horny Goat Weed’s active incredient works as well as Viagra in treating erectile dysfunction, but without the negative side effects. Viagra (sildenafil) has been known to cause heacaches, facial flushing and distorted vision.
Horny Goat Weed is the main ingredient in VigRX. It works to increase erectile function and allows more blood to flow to the penis. It does this by allowing the nitric oxide levels to increase, relaxing smooth muscles. It also acts as a mild PDE-5 inhibitor. Like Viagra, Epimedium reduces PDE-5 levels, although at a level that doesn’t produce unwanted side effects.
The Italian scientists tested four medicinal plants that had a traditional reputation of being helpful for impotence and erectile dysfunction, but only Horny Goat Weed was seen to be strongly effective against the enzyme that restricts blood flow to the penis.
